Apple Shames Android, 200 Million Devices Already Running iOS 6

As Google and its partners struggle to update Android phones to Jelly Bean (or even Ice Cream Sandwich), Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that 200 million devices are now running iOS 6. That's pretty amazing when you consider that the operating system has only been available for a little more than a month. As of early October, Jelly Bean was on a measly 1.8 percent of Android devices.

Chew on these other numbers from the Apple event:

  • 125 million documents in the cloud
  • 300 billion iMessages sent last year
  • 275,000 iPad apps
  • 35 billion downloaded iOS apps
  • 1.5 million iBooks, now with continuous scrolling
