Best Wi-Fi Tech
Intel's new My WiFi hotspot technology takes your existing hardware--providing you're running on the Centrino 2 platform--and helps you turn your notebook into a wireless hotspot. All you have to do is wait for your manufacturer to create the drivers.
My WiFi lets you connect directly to wireless printers, or interact with wireless devices like your Zune, all through an 802.11 b/g connection. It reminds us of a Bluetooth connection, but instead of being limited by the throughput of Bluetooth, you can use a much faster wireless signal to transfer data between multiple devices. Intel has tested the tech with devices like Archos' line of PMPs, wireless projectors from Panasonic and Epson, the Zune and the iPhone. It hopes the technology may one day be used to work with Wi-Fi speakers, and we can't wait to see the types of products that begin to use this tech from the getgo.
