Sale Price: $99.99

Why This Is a Good Deal: Thanks to the coupon code EMCEGEG82, this is the lowest price we've seen on Microsoft's latest office application suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote; not Outlook, which is reserved for the business versions. "Rather than reinventing the wheel with a snazzy new UI or adding a ton of whiz-bang features, Office 2016 focuses squarely on collaboration, making it easier for teams to communicate, edit the same documents and plan projects together," we noted in our review. However, "[o]rganizations will find a lot to like while consumers see a few new benefits from the suite." This sales version is for Windows 7 or later.

$140 Off Dell Alienware Gaming Laptop + Free Game

Retailer: NewEgg
Regular Price: $1,699.00
Sale Price: $1,559
Sale Ends: not known
When Released: October 2015

Why This Is a Good Deal: Our two primary reservations about the 13-inch edition of this gaming laptop were its short battery life and the lack of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M GPU. This 15.3-inch version of Dell's Alienware R2 weighs 7.07 pounds, so you're unlikely to schlep it all over creations, and it includes the aforementioned NVIDIA 970M graphics engine. Other than these quibbles, we believed Dell's 15.6-inch Alienware R2 (6th gen 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 6700HQ, 1920 x 1080 display, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD plus 256GB SSD) "provides a great mix of functionality, customization, performance and affordability that will appeal to the thrifty gamer's wallet" thanks to its. Oh, and you get a free copy "Rise of the Tomb Raider."

You can choose from the 64GB Wi-Fi-only, 64GB with Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity or 128GB Wi-Fi-only versions, plus a cover in one of four colors, black, blue, red or dark red.

Retailer: Staples
Regular Price: $529.99
Sale Price: $419.99
Sale Ends: February 6, 2016

Why This Is a Good Deal: We considered this slightly less expensive but nearly identically-spec'd sibling of the HP Pavilion 13t an Editor's Choice, "a great touch-screen laptop for the money." Like the 13t, the 13.3-inch HD IPS screen on this Windows 10 X360 flexes into one of four positions, is powered by an Intel Core i3 with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD and includes a multi-format digital media card reader. Why This Is a Good Deal: Nothing fancy, this silver Windows 10 Lenovo Ideapad 300S is a more-or-less pedantic 14-inch laptop that "feels surprisingly premium for its price, with…a sturdy chassis and a responsive keyboard-touchpad combo," we opined in our original review. We "also liked the laptop's solid performance and responsive keyboard and touchpad," but "was less impressed by its modest battery life." Spec-wise, the 300S runs on a 6th gen Intel Core i5-6200U chip and an Intel HD Graphics 520 engine, with a 1920 x 1080 display, 500GB HDD and 8GB of RAM.

Regular Price: $999.99
Sale Price: $936.06
Coupon Code: EMCEFGN55
Sale Ends: February 4, 2016
When Released: May 2015

Why This Is a Good Deal: Over and above its impressive specs, this Windows 10 MSI GE72 Apache gaming laptop employs "Advanced Game Detect" technology that recognizes, prioritizes and accelerates online game data packs to ward off stuttering characters, freeze-ups and lags. When you're playing, you'll be staring at a wide angle 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 display; inside is a 5th generation 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 5700HQ along with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2 GB GDDR5 card, plus 16GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD. MSI also has boosted battery life 46 percent compared with the previous generation GE70 Apache. Retailer: Best Buy
Regular Price: $549.99
Sale Price: $499.99
Sale Ends: February 6, 2016

Android apps or your video viewing is done on an 18.4-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, content is stored on its integrated 32GB of storage, expandable to 128GB, it's powered by an octo-core processor and equipped with a 2.1MP front-facing camera for video chatting. "Overall, the Galaxy View is an intriguing concept that could be immensely useful in the right situations."

ThinkPad X1 Carbon for $1249

Retailer: Lenovo
Regular Price: $2,094.00
Sale Price: $1,249.99
When Released: November 2014

Why This Is a Good Deal: "The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is easily one of the best business ultraportables available," we lauded in our original review of this laptop, albeit a slightly different configuration than this sale model. Primarily, this Windows 8.1 64-bit version of the X1 is equipped with a more powerful dual core Intel i7-5600U 3.2MHz chip than our test model, in addition to the same 256GB SSD, 8GB and 14-inch 2560 x 1440 IPS display, which can be laid flat on a tabletop, and nearly 10-hour battery life. Three caveats: there's no SD card slot, there's no AC Wi-Fi and a new X1 is due in the next month.
