Acer Aspire S 13

Editor's Choice

If you're in the market for an ultraportable but don't want to spend a lot, pick up the Acer Aspire S 13. This striking system measures just over 0.5 inches thick yet crams in a fast Core i5 processor, a 256GB SSD and a colorful full HD display for just $679. Plus, you'll get more than 9 hours of battery life. We especially like the textured lid and booming sound.

    Acer Predator 17 X

    Editor's Choice

Acer's Predator 17 X is a beastly VR-ready gaming laptop that offers top-notch performance for hundreds less than its competitors. For $2,695, you get a desktop-class Nvidia 980 GPU, 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and an unlocked Intel Core i7 CPU with one-click overclocking. The 17 X also comes with a pretty potent 4.1 speaker setup complete with a bottom-mounted subwoofer, a dazzling multicolor backlit keyboard and a sharp anti-glare full HD screen.

    Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM)

    Editor's Choice

You'll be surprised by how much you can fit into a $349 notebook. The Acer Aspire E 15 not only features a colorful 15-inch 1080p display and more than 8 hours of battery life, but it also packs a DVD drive, nearly every port you could ask for and a comfortable keyboard. If your budget is slightly less stringent, the E5-575G-57D4 configuration offers 11 hours of battery life and slightly more power.

    Acer Predator Helios 300 (15-inch)

    Editor's Choice

You don't have to pay as much as you think to be VR ready. The Acer Predator Helios 300 comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU and Core i7 CPU, enough for some serious, intense gaming for a low price of $1,050. The battery life is far longer than the competition, and we loved the upgrade doors that let you swap our the RAM and storage drive. This machine is one heck of a deal. Prefer something biggeR? There's also a 17-inch model with an intensely bright display.

    Switch Alpha 12

    Editor's Choice

This detachable offers a bright, vibrant 12-inch display that makes it easy to view no matter where you bring the tablet panel. Its liquid cooling means the slate won't get too hot to hold. Also, make sure to get the Core i5 configuration, which offers enough speed to make it a fine productivity machine.

  • Best Ultraportable

    Acer Aspire R13

    Editor's Choice

By putting the R13's display on a swiveling hinge, Acer made a thin (0.71 inches) and light (3.3 pounds) notebook that can be put in more positions than can most laptops. The R13 is also brawny enough for getting a lot of work done, with its speedy SSD drives and strong overall performance. Acer's ultraportable is also great for taking notes or doodling with the company's Active Stylus, thanks to the pen's 255 degrees of pressure sensitivity and accurate palm-detection.

  • Best 15-inch Laptop

    Acer Aspire R 15

    Editor's Choice

This big-screen notebook offers the best of both worlds, with a bend-back display that enables tablet, tent and stand modes. The panel is impressive on its own in laptop mode, though, with vibrant color output that makes images and videos pop. You'll also get a ton of work done on the R 15, thanks to the solid performance of its Core i5 processor and its comfortable backlit keyboard.

  • Best Chromebook

    Acer Chromebook R 13

    Editor's Choice

The Acer Chromebook R 13 is our favorite Chrome OS notebook for a number of reasons, starting with its long-lasting battery that lets you leave the power cable at home when you're taking it out for a day. Google Docs users will appreciate the bend-back notebook's comfortable keyboard, which enables tons of typing. It's also one of first Chromebooks to emulate Android apps via the Google Play Store, though that feature is currently in beta.

  • Best Multimedia Laptop

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition

    Editor's Choice

With an Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU and Intel Core i7 CPU, Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition can power through games and handle VR experiences, but it doesn't look like a gaming PC. The V17's black, plastic lid and aluminum body are classy and conversative enough to take to work or school. The laptop's 17.3-inch display is a little dim, but the awesome speakers and a comfortable keyboard make this a wonderful multimedia and gaming machine.

  • Best Splurge

    Acer Predator 21 X

The Acer Predator 21 X is the most wonderfully over-the-top machine we've seen in years. The 18.6 pound colossus is the first notebook to feature a curved display, which it combines with Tobii eye-tracking technology for an immersive experience. It's not short on power either, packing dual Core i7 CPUs and dual Nvidia GTX 1080 GPUs. The only problem, of course, is its $8,999 price.

  • New and Notable

    Acer Spin 1

The 1080p display in the Spin 1 (which starts at $329) proves that budget 2-in-1 notebooks don't need to pack the low-res 1366 x 768-pixel panels they're burdened with all-too-often. The all-metal convertible's also both thin and light, weighing 2.76 pounds and measuring 0.55 inches thick. Its internal specs don't surprise, though, as it packs Pentium or Celeron CPUs and 4GB of RAM.

  • New and Notable

    Acer Switch 7 Black Edition

The Switch 7 takes the water cooling from the Switch Alpha 12 and pairs it with an Nvidia MX150 GPU, an auto-deploying kickstand and an 8th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor. The $1,699 detachable 2-in-1 allso has a stylus that is held inside the tablet, eliminating the need for extra holsters or attachments.
