Amazon Prime Day 2022's date is set for sometime in July according to Amazon's quarterly earnings report (opens in new tab). Although the next Prime Day's date has yet to be confirmed, the big annual shopping bonanza typically occurs during the second or third week of July.
We expect Amazon to officially announce the next Prime Day's start date (opens in new tab) as we move closer toward the big day. Prime Day offers a smorgasbord of Black Friday-worthy deals on just about everything including laptops, tablets, and peripherals.
Amazon Prime Day started out as a 24-hour event in 2015 to celebrate Amazon's 20-year anniversary. Over the course of the years, Amazon's annual sale has turned into a 48-hour smorgasbord of deals.
Outside of the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend, Prime Day is one of the most anticipated savings events for frugal shoppers. Each year, we've seen fantastic deals on today's best mobile tech and we expect more of the same this year.
Although the next Prime Day 2022's date is still up in the air, one thing's for sure — it will be here before we know it. Until then, here's a few things you might want to know about Prime Day and what to expect.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day was created on July 15, 2015 to celebrate Amazon's then 20th anniversary. For 24 hours, Amazon rolled out exclusive Prime member-only deals on a range of products from every category.
The first Prime Day proved to be so successful for Amazon, that it made Prime Day an annual tradition. Throughout the years, Amazon expanded the holiday to numerous countries.
Prime Day is available in the U.S., the U.K., the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.
Over time, the length of Prime Day has expanded as well. Back in 2017, Amazon Prime Day lasted for 30 hours, 36 hours in 2018 Prime Day and 48-hours from 2019-2021.
Are Prime Day deals for everyone?
While anyone can shop Amazon's Prime Day deals, Prime members get the best Prime Day discounts and special offers. Some of the benefits of being a Prime member include early access to Prime Day deals and exclusive Prime member-only deals.
For instance, last year, Prime members got to snag early deep discounts on Amazon hardware and Nintendo Switch game deals before Prime Day started. Last year's Amazon Prime Day preview deals took 45% off its Fire tablets and Kindle eReaders. We predict Prime Day 2022 may slash as much as 50% off and set unprecedented price lows.

What day is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
Thanks to Amazon's first quarter earnings report, we now know Prime Day 2022 is slated for July. This comes as no surprise given that Prime Day typically occurs during the second or third week of July to celebrate Amazon's July 5 founding date.
However, there were a few exceptions. In 2020, Prime Day was pushed back to October 13-14 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The following year, Prime Day 2021 took place on June 21 and June 22 to kick off the summer.
What dates are Amazon Prime Days?
The official dates of this year's Amazon Prime Days are still a mystery as of now. As we predicted, Prime Day 2022 is in fact happening in July as revealed in Amazon's quarterly earnings release.
Although Prime Day 2022 exact start date is unknown, we expect Amazon to make an announcement as we get closer to its big summer sale.
We predict Prime Day 2022's dates will fall somewhere during the second or third week of July as tradition holds. And just like previous years, Prime Day 2022 is likely to run for 48 hours with early access deals for Prime members starting a day early. However, we wouldn't be surprised if Prime Day morphs into a 72 hour event for all this year.
Amazon Prime Day 2022 deals to expect
Like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day is one of the most anticipated savings events for bargain hunters. In the spirit of competition, expect big box retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart to roll out generous Prime Day alternative deals to take some of the shine off of Amazon.
Given that Prime Day is all about the best Amazon deals, many of the top Prime Day deals tend to be on Amazon hardware. Expect to see fantastic discounts on Amazon branded Alexa-devices like its entire family of best-selling Fire tablets. Last year, Amazon took 45% off its family of Fire tablets and Kindle eReaders. Prime Day 2022 could set new price lows with discounts of up to 50% off.
We've also seen the best laptop and tablet deals of the year during previous Prime Day events. This year we expect more of the same with steep discounts on traditional laptops, gaming laptops, Chromebooks, and convertible laptops.
And if you're looking for the best prices on Apple gear, look out for the best Prime Day deals on MacBook, iPad, AirPods and Apple Watch.
What stores participate in Prime Day?
During Prime Day, bargain shoppers can expect to see tons of deals on today's best gadgets at Amazon and competing retailers. Outside of the holiday, it's one of the best times of the year to score steep discounts on laptops, tablets, peripherals and more.
