Step 2: Disconnect the Mini PCI-e Card

When you take a look at the motherboard, you'll notice that there is a metal bracket with two screw holes holding the hard drive in place. The right screw hole may or may not have a screw preinstalled by the factory (ours did not), but the left screw hole is obstructed by a Mini PCI-e card which we believe is the Wi-Fi card.

In order to remove the hard drive, you will first have to move the Mini PCI-e card.

To remove the Mini PCI-e card:

• Unscrew the screw(s) holding the Mini PCI-e card in place.Our Wind had only one screw holding the card in place, but others may use all four holes.
  
  
  
  
• Wiggle the Mini PCI-e card until it comes out of its slot. Do not disconnect the attached wires.
  
  
  
  
• Rest the card on the plastic a few inches away. Make sure the wires stay connected. You will soon be putting it back in place.
