Transcend's StoreJet 2.5 USB is available in four shiny colors: red, blue, silver, and gray. This attractive 120GB drive weighs in at around 6.5 ounces and is less than 0.5 inches thick. An amber activity light is located next to the USB port, and there's a supplemental power-supply jack for systems with low-powered USB ports. Cables for both connections are included in the box, as is a plush carrying case. The StoreJet comes with a two-year warranty.
The company also bundles a mini CD containing an electronic user's guide and a suite of backup and restore utilities. Backups can be customized to include specific files and folders and can be scheduled on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The backup manager lets you view details about each backup task, including file count and size, the backup destination, and whether the files were compressed and encrypted. You can also see an entire list of backup copies that have been created. Despite all of its features, the StoreJet didn't deliver screaming-fast performance, turning in by far the slowest write time in the roundup.
