Clad in a silver case and measuring 0.8 inches thick, the Buffalo MiniStation 120GB USB drive weighs in at around 6.7 ounces. A green power indicator embedded in the top of the case doubles as a drive-activity indicator, and the USB and auxiliary power inputs are mounted on the side bezel. Plus, you get two standard USB cables in 12- and 32-inch lengths. The MiniStation comes with a one-year warranty.

Bundled software includes SecureLockWare for setting up drive and file encryption parameters, and Memeo's AutoBackup, which automatically backs up important files whenever a change is made. You can save as many versions of a file as you please and add file encryption to give your data an extra measure of security. Second-place read and write times confirm that the MiniStation is a very good value-priced portable hard drive.
