ASUS Eee PC 900 To Include FingerGlide Touchpad, 1.3 Megapixel Webcam

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen gave us lots of details on the new 8.9-inch version of the Eee PC a few months ago, but ASUS has finally put out an official press release on the system this morning. It also slapped an offical name—the Eee PC 900—on the machine. Here is what we know now: The system packs a 8.9-inch widescreen, a 1.3 mega-pixel webcam, a touch pad with FingerGlide capability and 12GB and 20GB storage capacities for Windows and Linux platforms respectively. And yes, the screen has a 1024 x 600 resolution! Stealing one from Apple, the FingerGlide feature will allow for different finger movements on the touchpad. Users will be able to zoom in and out of pictures or scroll up and down for easier document viewing. Take a look at the full specs:

The system does not include Intel's Atom processor, but rather the same processor found in previous versions. We can expect an Atom version of the Eee PC at a later date. The system will be available in Taiwan almost immediately, but when can we expect to see these stateside? According to ASUS, they will hit the U.S. market in early May.
