Laptop Mag powers down after 34 years of tech journalism

For 34 years, Laptop Mag has reported on the latest in laptop computers and consumer tech, but now Laptop is closing its lid for the last time.
Over those three-plus decades, we have embraced high-quality journalism and authentic, first-person storytelling, producing in-depth features and reviews of consumer laptops, phones, tablets, headphones, and smart glasses. We published special issues dedicated to AI’s growing influence, the best of CES, changes in the silicon industry, and more.
We never wavered in being an advocate for readers, whether it was reporters interviewing decision-makers in Taipei, Las Vegas, Berlin, Barcelona, or at our home base in New York City.
Unfortunately, a changing business landscape has made it increasingly difficult for Laptop Mag to thrive as it had in previous years.
Our staff and contributors maintained a near-devout commitment to updating buying guides for an audience of experts and enthusiasts who counted on Laptop to help them make informed choices in an increasingly expensive world.
Laptop was a launchpad for writers who are now prominent voices at nearly every major tech publication, including national news organizations and specialist publications. Aided by a cast of opinionated contributors worldwide, Laptop published news but also commentary where we told it like it is by being straightforward, honest, and unafraid to speak plainly.
For all the latest in laptop and consumer tech, read the work of our colleagues at Tom’s Guide. For now, this site and all its articles will remain online, but this will be the last one.
