Netflix paved the way for profitable password-sharing crackdowns, and now Disney Plus is following suit. Earlier this year, Disney Plus established anti-password-sharing rules that took effect on March 14 and, if broken, could result in restrictions or a ban from the service. Now, Disney plans to take it further.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger outlined plans to turn the streaming service "not just into a profitable business, [but] into a growth business," partly by preventing multiple households from sharing one Disney Plus account (via The Verge). 

Get ready to say goodbye to the luxury of sharing your password as early as June —or make plans to binge your watchlist before canceling your account.

This new restrictive Disney Plus policy affects "a few countries" — more to come

Similar to Netflix, Disney Plus graciously plans to let multiple households stay on the same plan for an "additional fee." These paid sharing plans will start rolling out in June in "just a few countries in a few markets," but it's not clear which countries this ominous paid sharing test will hit first.

Regardless, by September, the Disney Plus password-sharing crackdown will be effective in all countries. Disney CFO Hugh Johnston confirmed during the company's February earnings call that this summer, subscribers "suspected of improper sharing" will be prompted to sign up for their own subscription or pay an "additional fee," which is unknown right now.

Disney Plus is the second-most popular streaming service, behind Netflix, and it has a lot of acquired content under its belt. But will that be enough to get current multi-household subscribers to pay for their own accounts? Bob Iger seems to think so.

When asked about the competition, Iger said "We know what you need to be successful in streaming and not everybody has that, and I’m not sure everybody can get it. We know that we can, given everything that I’ve discussed…the content that we have and the technology that we’re building and the brands that we have. I don’t think everybody does though."

In short, Disney Plus is coming for Netflix and the competition — and also for your wallet — all in the name of becoming "a business that has margins that [Disney] and [its] shareholders would really be proud of."

Werewolf by Night is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest TV offering and an ode to classic horror features from the 1930s and 40s. While some have said that Marvel’s recent offerings are a little “too samey”, the black and white, 53-minute special presentation of Werewolf by Night is seemingly anything but. With Halloween on the horizon, Marvel may have served up the ideal companion for a witching-hour watch-along. Not much is known about what to expect as Abbott Elementary heads into its sophomore season. However, what we do know tells us that show creator, writer, and star Quinta Brunson is hoping to recreate the magic of the show’s award-winning debut while aiming to keep things fresh. In an interview with Elle earlier this year, Brunson let a few details slip about what she and fellow cast members would like to see in season 2.

Brunson herself would love to see the teachers on more field trips; Sheryl Lee Ralph wants her character Barbara Howard to start a Sister Act 2-esque choir; Lisa Ann Walter wants her character Melissa Schemmenti, and the rest of the staff, to attend a teaching convention; and Tyler James Williams hopes for more of the will-they-won’t-they romance between his character Gregory Eddie and Brunson’s Janine Teagues.

Just how many of these ideas translate into actual episodes? We don’t know yet. However, ABC was kind enough to release the following synopsis for season 2’s opening episode “Development Day”:

“The teachers are back at Willard R. Abbott Public School for development week, a time to prepare for the upcoming year before the students’ first day of school. Post-breakup, Janine is determined to start the year off right and leave her problems at home. With this new outlook, she takes on organizing the faculty mixer and announces a special celebrity surprise she planned for the kids’ first day. Meanwhile, Ava runs a side hustle out of the school parking lot and Gregory, now a full-time teacher, is in over his head with the curriculum”

Disney Plus has become my favorite streaming service for its huge Star Wars and Marvel libraries, alongside amazing dramas and so many binge worthy shows via Star like Scrubs.

Rather than go through all the reasons why you should get Disney Plus (trust me, with hundreds of shows and movies, there are so many), I’ll just go through why I love it.

This month has been a difficult one for me so far, but I’ve loved nothing more at the end of each day than to sink hours into rewatching The Simpsons and, more interestingly, Daredevil. It used to be a Netflix property and, personally, one of the best shows to come out of the service’s relationship with marvel.

Plus, I recently watched Up again with my partner, which I get is an emotional roller coaster, but fear not. With the heartwarming short series Dug Days, which details the aftermath of when the lovable golden retriever moves in with Mr. Fredriksen, puts a permanent grin on your face.

So, what are you waiting for? If times have been tough, there’s nothing quite like a good Disney film, amongst the sea of content on Disney Plus, to distract you and give you a good laugh for a while. 

Most shows entering their 10th season are likely to be scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to fresh, new ideas. However, when that moment arrived for Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the creators of the massively popular American Horror Story, they were instead spurred on to double down on their efforts — developing the all-new, one-shot, anthology spin-off, American Horror Stories. The show, and its blend of the mature and camp, returns for its sophomore season this month, with nine all-new, hair-raising narratives. Season one of American Horror Stories was a mixed bag to say the least. While there were some interesting episodes, the reliance on its parent show’s Murder House location and cast did come across as self-referential (and oftentimes self-aggrandizing). How to watch American Horror Stories season 2 online in the U.S. and Canada

Those wanting to watch FX’s American Horror Stories season 2 online in the U.S. and Canada can find all of the latest episodes on Hulu, the home of FX On Demand content. The show’s sophomore season kicks off on Thursday, July 21, 2022, with the episode “Dollhouse” being available to stream from midnight EST. Those on the West Coast will be able to watch the show slightly earlier than advertised on Wednesday, July 20 at 9 p.m. PST due to the time zone differences. Episodes will release at the same time each week up until the as-of-yet untitled series finale in September.

How to watch American Horror Stories season 2 online in the UK

In late June the official social media account for Disney+ announced that American Horror Stories season 2 will come to the U.K. and Ireland by way of the House of Mouse’s streaming platform. However, at the time of writing, the release date for the show’s second installment has yet to be revealed. While you wait for more information on the upcoming season’s U.K. debut, the show’s first installment is prepped and ready for a rewatch on Disney+ as a Star Original.

How to watch American Horror Stories season 2 in Australia

The second season of American Horror Stories will arrive in Australia via on demand platforms BINGE and Foxtel NOW. The horror anthology kicks off with its first episode, “Dollhouse,” being made available on Friday, July 22, 2022 — a day later than the North American premiere. New episodes will then premiere every Friday for the duration of the show’s nine-episode run.

BINGE subscribers looking to pass the time until the arrival of the new season have a wealth of AHS-based content to fall back on. Not only is BINGE home to American Horror Stories season 1, but you can also rewatch all ten seasons of its parent show, American Horror Story, on demand also.
