AT&T Unleashes New Sony Ericsson Camera Phone, Walkman Phone

AT&T today launched its first high-megapixel camera phone, the 8.1MP Sony Ericsson C905a, as well as a new Walkman phone, the W518a Walkman. The $179.99 silver hued C905a sports a full xenon flash, auto focus, red eye reduction, face detection, and GPS tagging. The phone looks a lot like a point and shoot camera, but you can slide out a full alphanumeric keyboard for placing phone calls. It features a 2.4 inch glass display, and you can expand its storage using M2 memory cards up to 12GB in size. Other features include the AT&T Music store, FM radio, Mobile E-mail, and AT&T Navigator for turn-by-turn directions. It's a sharp looking device, and one that we hope has the skills to replace a budget point-and-shoot camera. We'll be testing this shortly, so stay tuned for a hands-on. The $49.99 W518a is a mineral black clamshell device with a keyboard that reminds us a lot of the T-Mobile TM506. However, the 3G capabale W518a sports a better 3.2MP camera, and Facebook integration which allows you to pop open the phone to quickly check Facebook status updates and pictures. You can update your Facebook status with just one click from the phone's standby screen. Like the most recent generation of iPods, you can shake the phone to skip tracks. Both phones will be available in stores and online starting on July 19th.
