The Verdict: A superb suite of system enhancers.
The makers of the veteran System Mechanic fixer for Windows provide an excellent and accessible suite of performance enhancers and problem fixers in System Mechanic 7 Professional. The program scans every nook and cranny of your PC at startup and offers to plug security holes, start firewalls and antivirus programs, clean unnecessary system files, and much, much more.
This is the most expensive suite we tested but also the most comprehensive. The program includes a registry cleaner and defragmenter, System Guard malware protection, and a full diagnostic toolbox and interface tweakers.
We liked System Mechanic 7 Professional's uninstall tool, which found about seven programs improperly uninstalled on our system. A convenient program manager monitors all the processes and programs running on your PC and lets you turn them on and off and see their source on your hard drive. At every stage, this program provides detailed explanations of what it finds and the operations it wants to perform.
In fact, SM7 Professional found and fixed a lot of errors the other programs overlooked or didn't even try to find. It's the most expensive option here, but iolo Technologies' suite is a bargain that will keep your system clean and optimized.
