Sometimes the second time's a charm. Splashtop, the instant-on operating system found in every notebook brand from ASUS to HP to Lenovo, won us over anew by adding shortcuts, lots of shortcuts - customizable ones, e-mail alerts, and a host of applications for easier access to everything from YouTube to Facebook. If the whole point of an instant-on OS is being able to get online quicker, then introducing shortcuts and apps is the key to making it all the more useful.
