The gods of the mobile tech world have unbelievable influence over us mere mortals. They can simply dream up a concept--be it a slate that brings the web and personal computing to the palm of your hand, a location-aware social network that rewards you for discovering new things, or a technology that re-invents how we interact with the web--and make that dream a reality.
They are instigators of change in a vastly expanding digital world. The biggest question that inspired debate and discussion among the editors of LAPTOP, however, was how to narrow these icons to a group of just 25. And yet, here it is: our third annual list of the most influential people in mobile technology.
