Driver Detective has been in business for a long time, and the company has the driver files to prove it. Through this driver update software, you have access to more than 27 million driver files. Driver Detective is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP.
You'll find it performs basic functions you would expect driver update software to complete. This includes backing up your drivers, conducting a thorough scan and restoring your former drivers if you don't like the new ones. It also provides you with information about the version and source. If you perform a free scan with this software, you can't see the version and source information until you buy it. Other software we reviewed doesn't have this restriction.
When Driver Detective scanned its database, it found drivers for outdated Nvidia, Broadcom and Intel systems. It also searched for drivers to update our peripheral devices. Driver Detective can find drivers for Dell, HP, Compaq and Gateway as well.
One feature this driver update software lacks is the ability to schedule scans. This isn't a critical feature, but it's convenient. Some schedulers can scan daily or weekly, but it's not necessary to scan so frequently. It is good to check for updated drivers when you perform routine maintenance on your PC.
