Sony VAIO TT: Lightweight, Blu-ray Notebooks with 256GB SSD Capacity

Today, Sony took the wraps off what it hails as the world’s lightest notebook with a Blu-ray optical drive: the  2.8-pound Sony VAIO TT. Utilizing a carbon-fiber chassis that comes in a variety of colors (carbon black, silk black, champagne gold and crimson red), the Sony VAIO TT will enable users to enjoy high-definition movies in a lightweight machine that measures less than an inch thin. Not only can users playback the latest Blu-ray releases, but they can burn content as well. The system features an 11.1-inch widescreen LED display that's powered by with Sony’s XBRITE-DuraView technology.  For those moments when you wish to kick back and relax on the sofa, you can output video via the HDMI port. Other specs include an Intel Centrino 2 processor, dual 128GB solid state drives with RAID technology (on select models), and optional Sprint mobile broadband. The notebook comes with the choice of Windows Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate operating systems. Windows XP Professional is also available on select models. The Sony VAIO TT starts at $2,000 (with the Blu-ray version going for approximately $2,700, and the SSD model going for  $2,750) when it becomes available this fall.
