Use Outlook Social Connector to See Your Contacts' Network Updates in Office 2010

Access Facebook and LinkedIn from Outlook 2010.

While you're viewing your e-mail, Outlook 2010 allows you to see what your friends and associates have been up to on popular social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn. To activate Social Connector:

  • Open an e-mail from a contact you are connected to on a social network. At the bottom of the e-mail window, you will see information about your contact.
  • Click the Add button. A wizard window appears.
  • Click the Next button and then click the link to View Social Network Providers Available Online. The web browser opens to a page with several different social connector plug-ins.
  • Download and install plug-ins for the social networks you use (Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc).
  • Add your username and password to each social network, and then click Finish.
  • Click the Plus button again and select the social network you wish to see from this contact. You will then be able to see the contact's activities on that network beneath their e-mails.
