How to Quickly View All Open Windows in Windows 7

Here's how to view thumbnails of all your open windows in Windows 7.

By default, Windows 7 combines all windows for a program into one taskbar icon. While some may like this neat look, it forces you to hover over a single program icon to see thumbnails of all the windows you have open and to pick one. If you have ten browser windows open in Firefox, for example, you'll waste a lot of time switching between them.

To make sure every open window gets its own taskbar icon:

  1. Right-click on your taskbar and select Properties.
  2. In the Taskbar tab, select Never Combine from the taskbar buttons menu.
  3. Click OK.
