Make the Most of Hotmail Filters in Windows Live Hotmail

Save time in Hotmail by sorting incoming mail.

Gmail is known for its useful and time-saving Labels and Filters feature, but it's not the only game in town. By setting filters in Hotmail, you can automatically sort incoming mail and save a few seconds.

  1. Click on the Options menu (top right), then click More Options.
  2.  Beneath the Customize Your Mail section, click "Automatically sort e-mail into folders".
  3. Click New Filter.
  4. On the Edit Filter page, create your filter by Address, Name, Subject, or To And CC Lines. Then specify your filter by using such operators as Contains, Ends With, or Equals to check against the text you specify.
  5. Pick a folder where you want your filtered messages to go.
  6. Click the Save button to finish creating your filter.
