Upgrade Your Notebook's RAM
Give your struggling laptop more memory and better performance.

UpgradeRam_shNoticed lately that your notebook's performance isn't as snappy as it used to be? Don't start scanning through the circulars for a new system just yet. Assuming you have a relatively fast processor inside your laptop, you might just need some extra RAM.
 
To show you how, we decided to upgrade the Gateway NX570X' rather pedestrian 1GB of RAM with two 1GB sticks of RAM from Kingston ($89; www.kingston.com). The extra gig of memory made a noticeable impact on this Vista notebook: We saw much improved multitasking performance in our tests. Before you begin, you'll need to know the type of RAM that your system uses and the maximum amount that it can house (you can find this information in Kingston's online database).
