McAfee Anti-spyware 1.0

We've looked at McAfee Anti-spyware 1.0 several times over the last year and can't help but wonder when we'll finally see a new version. This solution's scanning, detection, removal, and real-time blockers are very effective at catching hidden spyware and detecting incoming incursions. Its interface is simple and intuitive, but you could argue that's only because it contains few options or customizable features.

What's more-or less, in this case-is that no information or guidance is provided about tagged threats. Clicking the Details button shows where the alleged threat lives on your hard drive or lists suspicious registry keys.

Even so, McAfee currently affords stronger protection than any ISP-branded spyware. The company has told us more and better features are coming in the next version. We're still waiting, though, and so should you. If you decide to go for it, you'll pay $39.95 for a yearly subscription.
