If there were ever a good time for spyware protection to be on your mind, it would be this week. Not only did iolo Security roll out a new virus-protection program but Lavasoft, the antispyware software company, announced the release of Ad-Aware 2007. The Plus, Pro, and Free versions of the software are available starting today.

After three months of extensive beta testing, the new Ad-Aware 2007 antispyware software offers a redesigned engine with increased scanning speed, a new graphical user interface, and advanced Code Sequence Identity technology to detect hidden and emerging malware. Features include faster scans; Ad-Watch RegShield, which blocks malware attempts to change registry settings; Ad-Watch Connect, a snapshot of all programs connecting to networks and featuring another channel to identify keylogger and identify-theft attempts; the Scheduler, which sets the date, time, and frequency of computer scans; and TrackSweep, which erases tracks left while surfing the Internet and that keeps spyware from documenting surf patterns and targeting users with adware and spyware.

Ad-Aware 2007 is available from the Lavasoft Web site starting today.

Price: Plus $26.95; Pro $39.95
