If you've lusted after wireless broadband's go-anywhere high-speed connectivity but were put off by the price, there is good news, better news, and bad news.
 
The good news is that prices for connection cards have dropped dramatically, from around $150 a year ago to as little as $50 after rebates and with a two-year contract. The better news: Coverage areas continue to expand, and connection speeds continue to increase as Sprint and Verizon roll out their faster EV-DO Rev. A networks.
 
Alas, the bad news continues to be the monthly charge for service. Carriers still command around $80 per month for unlimited data service (you can save $20 a month if you also subscribe to a voice plan with the carrier). But the premium is worth it for professionals who are always on the go.
